On March 31, 2022, in partnership with Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the World Bank Group's (WBG) Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program (DRFIP) hosted their 8th and final session of the Knowledge Exchange Series. The session focused on the Disaster Risk Financing Analytics Training that focused on the two tools developed by the World Bank for supporting decision-makers on the financial disaster risk management. The series is a continuation, in virtual formats, of traditional knowledge exchange events that take place every two years to empower countries under the program through sharing their experience and knowledge in building financial resilience.

The webinar commenced with opening remarks from Jean Pesme (Global Director, Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation [FCI] Global Practice, World Bank Group [WBG]) and Rosmarie Schlup (Head of Macroeconomic Support Division, Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs [SECO]). Evie Calcutt (Financial Sector Specialist, FCI Global Practice, Crisis and Disaster Risk Finance [CDRF], WBG) introduced tools developed by the CDRF team to estimate disaster losses and compare risk financing strategies. Lisa Yu (Risk Finance Consultant, FCI Global Practice, CDRF, WBG) presented a live demonstration of these tools. Eka Guntsadze (Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance, Georgia) and Shota Gunia (Head of Fiscal Risk Management Department, Ministry of Finance, Georgia) shared how the tools were used in Georgia.

The webinar was facilitated by Tatiana Skalon (Financial Sector Specialist, CDRF, FCI Global Practice, WBG) and featured a live poll function to interact with the audience. Over 140 participants from client countries, international organizations, private sector companies, non-governmental organizations, and academia attended the event.
