[Courtesy Announcement] Official Launch of the InsuResilience Centre of Excellence on Gender-smart Solutions
Dear valued member of the InsuResilience Global Partnership,
On behalf of the InsuResilience Secretariat and Government of Canada, we would like to cordially invite you to the official launch of the InsuResilience Centre of Excellence on Gender-smart Solution (CoE) this Gender Day at COP26 on Tuesday, 9th November 2021, 4:00 – 5:00 pm UK time.
The CoE is an important milestone toward the success of the InsuResilience Global Partnership Vision 2025 and will enhance the inclusion of gender dimensions within the Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance (CDRFI) arena in line with the Declaration on Gender. The platform was created to address the gender-specific and intersectional needs of poor and vulnerable women, men, and children, including understanding women’s additional barriers to economic participation in the context of CDRFI. The event marks the full launch of the CoE and aims to communicate the importance of taking forward a gender-smart agenda for climate action with a specific focus on CDRFI.
High-level keynote speakers will open the event, followed by a facilitated Q&A session moderated by Canada’s Ambassador for Climate Change Patricia Fuller. We are looking forward to an exciting list of panelists, including Ms. Chikondi Chabvuta (Advocacy and Partnerships Coordinator-Southern Africa, CARE International), Ms. Vositha Wijenayake (Executive Director, SLYCAN Trust), and Mr. Gernot Langanda (World Food Programme) with other members participating in this lively discussion as well.
We would be delighted to welcome you virtually or on-site in Glasgow for this celebratory occasion. For those at the COP26 grounds, drop by the Shared Pavilion space, PV67 Hall 4A.
We wish you an inspiring Gender Day at COP26 and look forward to a vivid exchange.
The Secretariat of the InsuResilience Global Partnership
