[COP30] Global Shield Financing Facility Side-Event: Disaster Risk Finance in Action - Saving Lives, Protecting Jobs, and Empowering Governments | Luxembourg Pavillion
Join us for a panel discussion, at COP30, showcasing the impact of disaster risk finance solutions financed by the Global Shield Financing Facility (GSFF), hosted by the World Bank Group. Learn how the GSFF, a key vehicle of the Global Shield against Climate Risks, a G7-V20 initiative is supporting financial solutions for climate and disaster related shocks in over 20 countries. This includes innovations across different areas of climate finance - focusing on addressing financial liquidity constraints that governments experience. Of note are links of finance with adaptive social protection to protect lives and livelihoods, and ensuring robust banking sectors that can continue to support SMEs and MSMEs post-shock so they stay in business and people can keep their jobs.
The panel discussion aims to raise awareness about the importance of disaster risk finance, especially in the context of the evolving global landscape with new emerging initiatives such as the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD).
